The Bloodthirsty Weiner Dog Chronicles, Part 2

Yes, the puppy pics are back.  He’s like a baby, even though I am now missing part of my shoe and several pairs of underwear (oh yes, this dog sifted through about 5 articles of clothing on my floor to find the underwear), everything he does is so cute and you have to have the camera armed and ready whenever you see him.

Volleyball

Well apparently volleyball photography is sort of my thing, regardless of the fact that I accidentally stayed through half of a championship game before realizing that the team I was covering had actually lost in the semi-final I shot an hour earlier.  Ooppps….

Anyway, these are the shots from the semi-final match of some sort of tournament, featured on Crest Ridge High School.

The Bloodthirsty Weiner Dog Chronicles

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , on October 21, 2009 by Jill Vorbeck

This is Phantom, the bloodthirsty Weiner.  He is 3 pounds, just 2 pounds shy of his full weight.  AND…he has a taste for human flesh, particularly toes and fingers (tiny appendages to fit in his tiny mouth).  But…he is so cute.  You can’t help but love the short legs and the long back and that goofy ear that sticks out sideways….despite the fact that his mommy (my roommate) and I might get kicked out of our apartment, half of my clothes have mysterious teeth marks on the edges, and i’m missing a pinky toe.

Drumroll please…..

Ok so as I frantically update my long lost wordpress, I’m starting to realize just how much stuff I’ve done since the last assignment I posted on here for a class last semester.  These are some shots from my trip to Hawaii, a whopping 2 weeks after I got back from Australia (this trip accounts for 4 of the 13 plane rides….yikes).  The most dramatic part of this trip was when our plane collectively came down with some sort of swine flu/heart attack combination and we had to emergency land in San Francisco to let 3 people off…I felt realllll cool because I was about 4 rows behind one of the emergencies and I was able to relay information of the event to people in line at the bathrooms.  Go. Me.  Anyway, these are my favorite shots.

Down Under

Posted in architecture, nature, travel photography with tags , , , , , , , , , , on September 23, 2009 by Jill Vorbeck

This summer I sat on 13 different planes in the course of one month.  Next time I plan on traveling to Australia, I’m walking  (I could use a few pointers, Jesus.)  While I was there I went from Sydney to the Blue Mountains to Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.  There, I got to witness some of those natural monuments you drool over in National Geographic, Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas).  Here are some of my favorites from the trip.  Of course, the trip wasn’t perfect.  I was supposed to be there on a month long internship, but that went downhill a few days after I started, resulting in my searching the internet for info on the Australian version of a restraining order.  Luckily, I was able to use the time waiting for my placement company to figure out what to do with me to travel the continent, and THAT is how I got some of my best shots.  So, from my perspective, portfolio improvement=worth the creep internship.

Can’t remember if this is supposed to be assignment 4 or 5 for creative photography class or if it even matters really. These are some shots I got in between classes last week.

Shots in KC, MO

Posted in Creative Photography, architecture with tags , , , , , , , on March 23, 2009 by Jill Vorbeck

Kansas City is kind of a fun place to shoot.  It’s smaller and cleaner that STL, so its easier to find parking.  Plus, you have City Market, lots of good pano opportunities, and cool architecture all within walking distance.  And of course, it’s closer to where I”m going to school.

These are a mixture of shots I did for fun, stuff from Mid Program, and Creative photography class assignments.
